Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend a round-table forum on the upcoming (July deadline) for H.4149 Live Theater Tax Credit Pilot. In attendance also Chris Welling, Pres. Local 11, Int'l V. P and Local 11 Business Manager Colleen Glynn, a Teamsters rep. Tevon Marcus of BIB, Maggie Doyle of CBOH, Erica Lynn Scwartz, GM ECT (moderator), Don Beal who sponsored the bill. There were reps from Arts Boston, Huntington Theater and other theater managers, lobbyists, Broadway League, Broadway in Boston. The forum was to discuss the H.4149.
Attached is a synopsis about the details of the bill and what we can do to help get it passed in the legislature. If passed, this will create more jobs and level the playing field to allow Boston theaters an opportunity to bringing in more shows and revenue to this state. RI, IL, OH, KY and GA already have this tax credit and if MA can also obtain it, this would be beneficial to all of us and our neighboring businesses.
